Brandon Jenkins and Tom Murray discuss leadership and change.

You’ve already made the call.
You just haven’t said it out loud yet.

Not because you’re still deciding. You know the course.

It’s because you know what saying it will set in motion.

Once it’s out, the changes start. The people you’re responsible for get uncomfortable. They have to be brought along, motivated, helped to see what you already see.

So you sit with it a little longer. Still in planning mode, even though the planning is done.

Tom and I got into this on a recent Leadership Ready Room chat.

The hard part usually isn’t the decision.
It’s knowing that the moment you say it, the people counting on you have to carry it too.

And they can’t start until you do.

If you’re sitting on something you’ve already decided, that’s worth being honest with yourself about.
