The bigger the decision, the less certain you feel making it.
That caught me off guard the higher I moved in leadership.
You keep waiting to feel sure. To have all the consequences resolved before you commit. On the decisions that carry the most weight, that feeling doesn’t really come.
So the real edge becomes something else. Can I get comfortable being uncomfortable? Can I keep leading the team well while I’m unsettled and don’t know?
That was one of the toughest things for me to grasp as I moved into higher levels of leadership. Honestly, it still is.
The earlier you start to wrestle with it, the better.
